Research Engineer - Photovoltaic Materials Processing

Job Description
SpectraWatt is seeking highly talented candidates to join our R&D team to help develop the next generation high-efficiency low-cost photovoltaic technology. We operate in a deadline driven and entrepreneurial environment. This is very much a hands-on position. Our Research Engineers work closely with Scientists to implement experiments, optimize device fabrication processes, characterize materials, test devices, and to generally support the R&D team. You will be working in the lab 90+% of the time and will attend weekly R&D group and sub-group meetings where updates are given, research is discussed, and brainstorming is done.

- Use semiconductor processing equipment, mix solutions, characterize materials, test devices
- Keep a detailed lab notebook
- Report to senior members of team to update on that day’s/week’s tasks
- Process
- Help develop process conditions/recipes for thin film semiconductor layers
- Use and modify thin film deposition and post-deposition processing equipment to optimize device performance
- Help develop characterization routines and methods for thin film layers, material interfaces and finished devices
- Involved in DOE of process experiments
- Involved in design/modification of experimental apparatus
- Coordinate with Technicians and Scientists to analyze and communicate experiments and results
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/BA in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering
- MS/MEng hands-on research and or industrial experience equivalent
- Experience with thin film deposition systems/processes, semiconductor device testing, and materials characterization
